I love the 4th of July...I love the traditions, what it stands for, what we do, and the fact that some pretty amazing people give everything so that we can enjoy all of these freedoms.  So this month, a portion of my profit will go to the Wounded Warrior Project.  This is an amazing organization that helps vets get all of the help they need when they get home and that no soldier is ever forgotten.  I will be putting a link on this page as soon as I get the required permissions.  Another cool effort I would like to support is Cell Phones for Soldiers.  This organization helps get cell phones and calling cards to soldiers so that everyone gets the chance to call home.  If you bring a cell phone for donation to your shoot this month I will give you a free 8x10!  And last but certainly not least is the Blue Star Mothers of Oklahoma.  Bring 10 items to donate and get a free 8x10.  I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful time with their families this holiday...just remember those that give us the freedoms we have.  Happy 4th of July! Electric Youth....

Snow!

Snow...as a teacher (who really does love her job) I get as excited about snowdays as the kids do. But...not as excited about a whole week of them.  I feel we have made this mandatory stay at home time productive. We have been cooking...real home-made food, like the kind that grandma used to make, and then cleaning too, of course. There is only so much you can cook and clean tho, and staying inside is starting to annoy...a little.   However, I am choosing to see the good and beauty in the amazing landscape that God has painted for us.  As a wanna-be photographer, I feel obligated to document this amazing Oklahoma snow event...along with my kids playing in it, of course... :)

Giving Back

To give back some of what I have been given...

Something that I talk about alot, but never seem to do enough of.  I think that like most people, I get caught up in the fact that money seems to be all I think I can give to help others, but I am coming to realize that time and just a helping hand or a kind word are comidities that are just as important.  Helping one another...not only giving to the nameless needy we may not ever see, but to the people around us in our everyday lives.  My older daughter picked out these necklaces in the picture to share with her sister...very touching gesture.  I was really inspired by the choice to share something rather than pick something out just for her.  It really made me think about not only others in need, but how much something so simple can affect the loved ones in my life.  On the money part, I will be donating 10% of all profits I make to John 3:16 Mission here in Tulsa.  I will have a link on the sidebar where you can donate as well if you feel moved to do so.  When you book a session, that 10% will be donated in your name.  I am also going to give some of my time as well.  'Tis better to give....
