Take the time to make memories...Even you MOM!!!!!

This evening on Facebook, I stumbled upon this post from a fellow photographer, and it stopped me in my tracks...Go here and read this letter and then come back...I'll wait.

http://fototails.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/a-letter-on-my-doorstep-portraits-are-more-than-paper/

Did you read it?  If you did, this will be a little blurry right now because if your like me, your crying.

Oh my gosh.... this letter gets me right at the core.   There is nothing I wouldn't give for one more picture of my mother and I together. This February she has been gone 10 years.  She was like most of us mothers....myself included.  Always worried about the few pounds we've gained, the new wrinkle or grey hair.    I've said this same thing on my blog before...how important it is to put aside how critical we are of ourselves and just take the picture...but I have to admit that I find myself doing this very thing....hiding behind the camera and taking pictures but never getting in front of the camera. And that's not fair to my husband or my kids. But you know what?  These people in your life, your family...they love you. Just the way you are.  In fact, they wouldn't have you any other way.  So....of all the resolutions I have considered for the new year, I think I will make this my top priority...to be a part of the memories I preserve for my family. This is the last pic I could find that I am actually IN with my daughter.  I think its from like kindergarten.  And now she is in the 4TH GRADE!!!!

So as I said before, I will be in more of the photos, rather than just the one taking them.  And I hope that you will take this to heart...Life doesn't wait...don't just record it, jump in and be a part.  I am sure we have all heard it before, but it's still just as true. The past is over, the future is uncertain, all we have for sure is this moment.  That's why its called the Present.

No words...

I really love the idea of letting an image speak for itself, so every Monday I will post an image with no words...Mute Monday.  Enjoy!

It's a New Year!!!!

Happy 2012!  A new year, a new beginning...I love Happy Beginnings, almost as much as I love Happy Endings.   This new year will bring blessings...I have faith!  Lots of new changes here.  Look around the site.  Although I have had to make some increases in pricing, I will still remember those of you who come back for more!  Ask me about customer loyalty advantages!   And for those of you who come back and bring a friend, you will be rewared as well!  Well...I have rambled enough.  I will leave you with a wish...That the best of your yesterdays be the worst of your tomorrows....Have a great 2012!

Celebrating Freedom and Those Who Keep Us Free!

I love the 4th of July...I love the traditions, what it stands for, what we do, and the fact that some pretty amazing people give everything so that we can enjoy all of these freedoms.  So this month, a portion of my profit will go to the Wounded Warrior Project.  This is an amazing organization that helps vets get all of the help they need when they get home and that no soldier is ever forgotten.  I will be putting a link on this page as soon as I get the required permissions.  Another cool effort I would like to support is Cell Phones for Soldiers.  This organization helps get cell phones and calling cards to soldiers so that everyone gets the chance to call home.  If you bring a cell phone for donation to your shoot this month I will give you a free 8x10!  And last but certainly not least is the Blue Star Mothers of Oklahoma.  Bring 10 items to donate and get a free 8x10.  I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful time with their families this holiday...just remember those that give us the freedoms we have.  Happy 4th of July! Call 918-607-4792 to set up your session!
